world travel

Most recently returned from: London, where Jeanhee and I rang in 2005 with our friends Don and Kristie, and ate our way through London's impressive culinary offerings. Yum, South Indian food! Pictures from the trip.

The 2004 New Year found us backpacking in Mexico. We started in San Diego, worked our halfway down the Baja peninsula, and then across the Sea of Cortez, where we took the stunning train ride through Copper Canyon, and met some great folks along the way. We celebrated the New Year drinking Tequila and eating pork tamales (I didn't feel right refusing!) at the home of a generous family in Los Mochis. Pics here.

Before that, I traveled in Bolivia and Peru with my mom, brother and sister. Prior to our trip, my sister, who studied in Bolivia this semester, sent back some great letters!). On the trip, I wrote down a few of my experiences:

I've been around the world once. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I crossed the Atlantic to live in Bangalore, India for 6 months in 1999, and then traveled to Nepal, and on to Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore and came back over the Pacific.

More recently (Dec. 2001 - Jan. 2002), I spent a month in Southeast Asia. A week in Singapore, two weeks in Laos, and a week in Thailand. I sent some letters home to friends during this trip. Check 'em out if you like:

While in Bangalore, I was asked to put together an online travel guide to Bangalore for BootsnAll.com. They've got a number of great guides and stories on their site, including the Southeast Asia stories I wrote and a fun author bio of me.

In India, I kept an irregular journal and photo gallery. You can read e-mails from the 1999 "India-Letters" series here:
