My neighborhood has a new museum! The NYT has
the scoop on the Rubin Museum of Art.
...when the old Barneys elevator stops at Wrathful Buddhas on 4, Blissed-Out Lamas on 5, and Tara, Mother of All Activities, on 6, you know that New York has been given a gift, both lucky and hard-earned.
Another No to Nader

If you're considering voting for Ralph Nader... please don't. If my opinion is not weighty enough for you, how about
the opinion of Nader's 2000 vice-presidentual running mate Winona LaDuke? She's voting for John Kerry.

NYT OpEd:
Imagining America if George Bush Chose the Supreme CourtAbortion might be a crime in most states. Gay people could be thrown in prison for having sex in their homes. States might be free to become mini-theocracies, endorsing Christianity and using tax money to help spread the gospel. The Constitution might no longer protect inmates from being brutalized by prison guards. Family and medical leave and environmental protections could disappear.
NYT Magazine:
Ron Suskind on faith and reason in the presidencyThe [senior advisor to Bush] said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''
