Happy February!

My mom called today on my cell phone. “Hi honey, I was just calling to see if you were stuck!” “Huh? Uh, no I’m at work. What do you mean?” “Well, your sister’s flight to Bolivia last night was canceled, so she’s stuck in Miami, partying in South Beach with the other college students in the program. And your brother is in a hotel in Kansas City with his girlfriend waiting out a blizzard. So I just thought I’d check on you.” “Ah, well, mom… I’m just at work…”

The World Economic Forum is in New York this year. It’s usually in Davos, Switzerland. Know much about it? I don’t either, but this blog is a nice window in. I’m torn between wishing I could attend and wishing I could join the anti-globalization protests.

Speaking of protests, this parody of the State of the Union address is excellent.

We lost our volleyball games the other night. That’s the bad news. The good news is that I feel healthy and had a blast playing. I’m starting to loosen up and it feels so good to be back in the game after my injury.

Caught up with a dear friend last night, and met her beau tonight. He’s a sweetheart, as if she’d choose anything less. My line of the evening, and yes, I’m proud of it: “the currency of happiness is relationships”. Two other dear friends are moving in together today. Dear oh dear, there’s lots of joy in Mudville right now!

Last but not least, in this string of short, deep thoughts, I’d encourage you to visit my favorite blog, who’s author is worried about his readers abandoning him due to an erratic updating schedule.
